Job Description/ Duties:

This is a professional position that is a half-time home visitor and a half time teacher.  The person in the position plans and implements a program of educational activities for pregnant women, infants, toddlers and their parents in their homes that encourages age appropriate growth and development in a variety of areas. The employee fulfilling this job is expected to complete assignments with a high standard of accuracy, attention to detail, and timely completion of work. This position works under the direction of the Lead Home Visitor & Site Leader/Early Education/Disability Specialist.




  • Plan and implement a program of educational activities for infants and toddlers, including writing a weekly lesson plan that specifies daily schedule, toward the achievement of specific curriculum goals as written in education component plan
  • Evaluate the accomplishments of the children on a regular basis and reports progress
  • Plan and implement an individual service plan for each child in the classroom
  • Promotes feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers by being warm, supportive, and comforting, and by establishing strong and caring relationships
  • Develop curriculum activities that reflect the ethnic/multi-cultural makeup of the community; maintains compliance with day-care licensing and HHS regulations
  • Assists in ensuring that all health and developmental screenings are up-to-date


Home Visitor:

  • Work with parents to strengthen the family’s knowledge of child development, how children grow and learn, plan and conduct child education activities with parents
  • Assist parents in creating a home environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the Early Head Start child
  • Assist parents in meeting the health, nutrition, and social service needs of the family
  • Plan and implement an individual service plan for each child in the classroom
  • Plan and implement individual education plans for each child using the selected curriculum as the basic guide and other resources
  • Encourage home based option parents to attend socializations, Center Parent Education programs and Policy Committee meetings



  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Elementary Education with a ZA (or Early Childhood) endorsement required
  • Previous professional experience working with pregnant women, infants and toddlers
